Season those shrimp like a boss
Okay, start by tossing your shrimp in a bowl with olive oil, all the spices, salt, pepper, and lime juice.
Mix it up real good — like every little shrimp needs to feel loved.
Let it sit for like 10–15 minutes if you have time… but if you don’t? Honestly, I’ve rushed it before and it still slapped.
Whip up that crunchy slaw
In another bowl, mix your shredded cabbage, carrot, mayo, lime juice, salt, and pepper.
Give it a good toss and then taste it — this is your moment. Add more lime if you want it zingy, more mayo if you want it creamy.
Pop it in the fridge while you do the rest. It gets even better as it chills.
Make the creamy dreamy sauce
In a small bowl, mix sour cream, mayo, hot sauce, lime juice, and a pinch of salt.
Stir until smooth and taste it.
And babe… try not to eat it straight with a spoon. I fail at this every single time.
Cook the shrimp (the fastest glow-up ever)
Heat a pan over medium-high heat.
Once it’s hot, add the shrimp in a single layer. Don’t crowd them — give them space to shine.
Cook for about 2 minutes per side until they’re pink, slightly charred, and smelling like heaven.
Do NOT overcook them — shrimp goes from juicy to rubber real quick, and we’re not doing that today.
Warm those tortillas
You can:
Heat them in a dry pan for like 30 seconds each
Or wrap them in a damp towel and microwave for 20–30 seconds
Warm tortillas = soft, flexible, and not breaking your heart mid-bite.
Build your tacos (this is the fun part)
Alright babe, now we assemble:
Start with a tortilla
Add a few shrimp
Top with that crunchy slaw
Drizzle the sauce like you’re on a cooking show
Sprinkle cilantro if you’re feeling fancy
Squeeze a lil’ lime on top
And boom — taco magic.
- Don’t overcook the shrimp — they cook FAST and go from juicy to rubbery in seconds.
- Pat shrimp dry before seasoning so you get that nice little sear instead of steaming.
- Warm tortillas make a huge difference — soft + flexible = perfect taco bite.
- The slaw tastes even better after chilling for 10–15 minutes.
- You can swap sour cream with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
- Add avocado, mango salsa, or pickled onions if you want extra “wow” energy.
- Always make extra sauce… trust me, you’ll want it for drizzling AND dipping.
- Spice level is totally adjustable — make it mild, medium, or “I need water but I love it” hot.
